And Lo, the Angel of Death did sweep down among the Pharisees in Washington, and their inboxes ran red with blood, and they were sore afraid… Many of us who have worked real jobs are offended by federal workers being offended about being asked to list what they did last week!

FWIW, and a reasonable amount of skepticism here, but I asked Grok if Active Duty Service Personnel were issued this email. The answer was, no. I was happy about that answer. While I’m sure there are slackers or grifters everywhere in society, I’m glad to see that the rank and file of our military was left out of this.
Can only imagine, had he been honest, what General Milley would have answered in that email…
Just for Bill.
… The Swedish Scolding Troll that lives under a windmill and eats poor people.
Welcome Back.
You, not her.
Thanks 🙂
I wish he’d ask me. I can provide my daily work activity details for the past 25 years, which translates to more than 52400 hours of work-related tasks. SQL databases are fabulous tools. However, I agree with these gentlemen on the screen — employees like me and others who’ve commented below are not the swimmers that this fishing expedition is trolling.
That being said, as a federal government contractor working at a national laboratory, I’m offended that so many of these gov’t fools and their media defenders are outwardly offended by a request for accountability.
Here is a report from a government worker (me) that got the aforementioned email. From OPM, not a specific person,: (OPM Office of Personnel Management) “Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullet points of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager. Please do not send any classified information, links or attachments. Deadline is Monday at 11:59pm EST” It was sent Saturday. Very few IRS employees work Saturday in the government. As ACTS says, some people could be sick or on vacation. If I had been asked last early September I could not respond, as my computer… Read more »
Guess what? I now am obligated to provide an account of what I did last week every week. No problem. Sent copy of email I sent last time with a couple of changes. Saving for future reference.
Easy peasy.😁
(1) What’s the big deal? Aerospace Engineers (like me) had to provide “5:15” (bullet points of daily/weekly activity) to managers for FOUR DECADES. Whoop-de-freaking-doo. Why is it called a 5:15? Easy, it takes 5 minutes at the end (5:15) of each day (or week), just before you ‘clock out’. I worked classified (black-world) projects for 3+ decades, and still was able to easily sanitize 5:15 for my white-world managers. Even if we were on the road testing or at symposia or before internet, we’d simply call-in our 5:15’s to the office assistant (who rolled them up for review). Example: Proprietary:… Read more »
In the IT field we have an old saying … “If you can’t dazzle ’em with brilliance, baffle ’em with bullshit.” Which not surprisingly works amazingly well when you’re trying to describe things to people who have no clue about the nuts and bolts of what you actually do for them. I would NEVER “go off the deep end” and rely solely on bullshit because that can come back to bite you in the ass. Don’t go somewhere that you cannot support if it becomes necessary to do so. That said, there’s a certain unavoidable amount of bullshit needed often… Read more »
I know people that got this email but could not lawfully comply in any meaningful way. These are industrious, conscientious, hard working government employees who are worth every penny of what we pay them. About all they could do is send … Supply actionable intelligence stream and analysis to MARFORCOM Supply actionable intelligence stream and analysis to MARFORCOM Supply actionable intelligence stream and analysis to MARFORCOM Supply actionable intelligence stream and analysis to MARFORCOM Supply actionable intelligence stream and analysis to MARFORCOM Any greater detail would illegally expose classified information. Of course these people could say things like — Made… Read more »
Well said, Scott. Now, we just need the ‘judges’ to uphold the Constitution and rule so the president can get on with keeping his promise to get rid of waste and fraud!
I’m a ‘double dipper’…20 years military, and 20 years municipal government. I constantly had to document my ‘productivity’, but I was always a maintenance worker…not an admin worker.
Scott, your summary comments were priceless! I think the Republicans in Congress ought to repeat them over and over whenever they get near a press microphone.
I am speaking as a retired civil servant. One thing always on my mind: I am working for the taxpayer. They are paying my salary, even though the check was ‘signed’ by the city. Was I perfect, probably not, (who is). But, I knew who actually signed my paycheck.
Always grateful.
