Paying Illegals to Self-Deport

There is a proposal on the table to pay $1,000 to every illegal alien willing to return home voluntarily. Is paying criminals a morally reprehensible act, or is it a pragmatic way to roll back the immigration invasion that has been going on for decades now?

When an illegal is forcibly deported, can we confiscate & auction their property? Maybe that would offset the cost of paying them to leave under their own power

Although “we” know these illegals entered the USA illegally, it is easy to see why the illegal aliens, themselves, might be somewhat confused. For for years, the Biden administration invited and encouraged them to come. They were even promised money, cell phones and 5 star hotel rooms, paid for by the US government. If I were an illegal, I would be very confused about the law here. I don’t think the illegals will regard getting paid $1000 to deport themself as a reward for committing a crime. They were just going with the flow when they came here, and now… Read more »

I read the it costs about $7000 to deport the illegals the way America is doing it now so $1000 now is not bad.

Each State needs to establish fees for remittances going out of the USA.

Payoff? Nah. (1) Today: (a) Step up ICE budget; (b) Set-up deport-me-hotline w/ $1000 going to any American (paid after deportation). (2) Short-term: (a) Complete the Wall; (b) Set up application process on a “go fund me” to help cover deportation airfare, ONLY for ‘vetted’ (non-criminals), which allows libs to throw as much $$$ at it as they like, in order to feel they’ve sufficiently value postured thus saving liberal face. (3) Mid-term: Get the courts back in “order” and on the same page that benefits the American People – NOT the criminals that immigrated ILLEGALLY. (4) Long-term: Get people to… Read more »

Lots of good ideas, Rick. My first thought to this entire question was to use BOTH the carrot and a stick. Steve’s right in saying that incentives work, but in setting up these “incentives”, a whole lot of creativity is needed. The devil is in the details, as they say, and regardless of what incentives might work, others will not — so rather than “paralysis by analysis” setting in (ALWAYS a hallmark of Congress), a simple but effective system using a series of these incentives AND punishing severely those who aren’t swayed by them is in order. Incentives also work… Read more »

There are many natural-born Americans I’d personally pay to leave the country. While today’s topic is a great economic choice, it’s a bad one from the standpoint of messaging. The best economic choice would be to “disappear” the illegals, which would be worse messaging from the standpoint of our moral standing in the world. The immediate best confluence of economic, moral, and practical answers to this self-inflicted wound would be to overwhelm the illegals who bring their criminality – besides the criminality of illegally crossing the border – to our country. Doing things like exposing them and showing them chained,… Read more »

Yeah, agree with all that but I hope by “disappear” them you mean grab ’em, hood ’em, and immediately send them back home by the most cost efficient means possible. I’m thinking along the lines of strapping a D5 canopy to each of them, hook ’em up to a static line and have a hydraulic piston shit them out of the back of a C-17 over their beautiful and exotic native land. Because if you mean “disappear” by killing them that’s an awful lot of bodies to deal with. The Nazis found out what a headache that is and we’d… Read more »

This is a god-awful idea. It is creating a future where illegal aliens invade looking for such payouts, and it’s little different than the current state of affairs.

Added to that is Scott’s final assessment: $1000 is not going to be enough to motivate the vast majority of these leeches to leave voluntarily in the first place. The benefits of staying illegally are what motivated most of them to come in the first place.

Ok, putting on my Iowahawk hat and doing some figuring a la “Eat the Rich” Firewall….. Let’s just be ‘reasonable’ and chop the number to 5 million illegal aliens…. Self deporting and a $1000 USD parting gift amounts to 5 billion dollars. I just checked what one might make if they found a way to get SNAP or CalFresh assistance, Welfare, Medical, and what the costs were minumum. I rounded up from $1450 PER month to $1500. So for just a year, 5 Million illegal aliens government assistance would be at least $90 billion dollars, for a year. 90 billion… Read more »

RR – I think your logic is good, but I think the cost is actually more. How many people here illegally are being put up in hotels still? That cost alone is higher than your $90B number. NYC by itself was claiming north of 500M per year for that cost. Add in the crime and the total cost per year is easily well north of $200B. That is each year. So a one time expense of $5000 per illegal to self deport still makes sense economically. To David’s point in the comments of incentivizing people to come here illegally to… Read more »

Both you and RR are making good sense. Preventing people from jumping on a merry-go-round where they get paid to self deport, return and get paid to do it again isn’t really an issue. DNA and fingerprints make it pretty much impossible to game a system like that, unless of course the Dems are in power and choose to allow it. As long as the border is locked down fairly tight the idea of incentivizing people to come here just to self deport one time and get $1,000 won’t really fly either. A few might slip through the cracks but… Read more »

Nope, nope nope. I am unelectable for many reasons. Chief of which is I have met too many politicians. There were precious few I held in any esteem, much less high esteem. Most are affable dolts. Some were downright scary in their self-adulation. My favorite VA politician decided not to run for the state legislature and I had sent him several notes about running for LT Gov. Think his podcast is taking off. Nick Freitas is his name and he was a Green Beret and has a BS in Intelligence. Hmm, I need to reach out to him and see… Read more »

You really need to team up with Harry Ferguson at the Concord Resort in the Catskills for a one night show. It’d be up there with Martin and Lewis, and Hope and Crosby, and waay better than Rowan and Martin! Comedy Gold!
